Abstract

This dataset contains numerically simulated mooring‑line tensions for 12 offshore locations in the south‑eastern North Sea. Hydrodynamic inputs (waves and currents) from a large‑scale 3D numerical model were used to drive a Finite Element model of a flexible mooring line, producing tension responses and derived tension‑rate indicators of snap loads. The data support research on how varying environmental conditions influence mooring‑line behaviour and snap‑load risk. Data presented here are tensions within a mooring line, from numerical mooring line, which is described here: http://dx.doi.org/10.2139/ssrn.5271454The research done using this data is published here: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apor.2025.104809
