Abstract

Data supporting the publication "Anomalous enhanced swelling of charged copolymer gels" in Polymer (vol. 317, 127934, published January 2025). Experimental data includes: Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC ) data. Objective: Determination of the glass transition temperature of gels with different SPMA:HEMA ratios. Files: metadata (xls), raw data (txt), glass transition temperatures (xls).Fourier-transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR ) spectra. Objective: Determination chemical content of gels with different SPMA:HEMA ratios. Files: metadata (xls), raw data (txt)Proton Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (H-NMR ) spectra. Objective: Estimation reactivity ratios of SPMA and HEMA monomers. Files: metadata (xls), raw data (Mnova + txt files)Swelling data of various gels with different SPMA:HEMA ratios. Objective: Determine trend in swelling of gels with different co-polymer compositions. Files: metadata + swelling data (xls-file) Python scripts include:"Flory Rehner" - Script that utilizes the Flory Rehner network to calculate osmotic pressure contributions (in txt)"Effective Charge Density" - Script that calculates effect charges on polyelectrolyte chains (in txt)"R1R2 Determination" - Script used to calculate reactivity ratios in SPMA and HEMA co-polymerization (in txt)"Chain Configuration" Script used to calculate and visualize the p(SPMA-co-HEMA) copolymer architecture (in txt)
