Abstract

This intervention study was conducted in five cities in West-Africa: Ife in Nigeria, Cotonou and Parakou in Benin, and Ouagadougou and Bobo Dioulasso in Burkina Faso. In total 64 street food vendors were identified who sold warm dishes that provide the opportunity to increase vegetable consumption (not snacks) and who had a fixed place of sale in a low or middle-income area. Data were collected through observations of customer purchases (n=9020), customer questionnaires (n=3446), vendor evaluation survey (n=64), and follow-up mystery shopper visits n=61).
