Abstract

This investigation explored the mechanical characteristics of Kenaf (KF), Hemp (HF) and E-glass (GF) fiber-reinforced polymer matrix composites, revealing notable variations in their tensile, flexural and hardness properties. HF-GF-HF composite displayed a 0.07% higher tensile strength than KF-GF-KF composite. KF-GF-HF exhibited 6.13% and 6.2% lower tensile strength than KF-GF-KF and HF-GF-HF respectively. Additionally, HF-GF-HF showcased superior flexural properties with strengths at 13.23% and 30.17% compared to KF-GF-KF and KF-GF-HF. Lastly, KF-GF-HF demonstrated higher hardness (VH 0.1, 22) compared to KF-GF-KF (VH 0.1, 20) and HF-GF-HF (VH 0.1, 18), summarizing the distinct mechanical advantages among these composites.
