Abstract
Let Gk be a connected reductive algebraic group over an algebraically closed field k of characteristic ? 2. Let Kk ? Gk be a quasi-split symmetric subgroup of Gk with respect to an involution ?k of Gk. The classification of such involutions is independent of the characteristic of k (provided it is not 2).
