Moving objects and moving clocks
Abstract
In Special Relativity, it is commonly accepted that a moving clock goes more slowly than a clock at rest in an inertial reference frame. In this paper, we use systematically the Lorentz transformations and prove that the statement is incorrect as long as the moving clock is not accelerating. We show that the statement results from an inexact interpretation of the proper time of objects moving at speeds less than that of light. The paper shows that the standards of length and time are not affected by the relative motion of inertial reference frames.
