Assessing the Journey
Abstract
Chapter 6 critically assesses Saudi Vision 2030 from 2016 to 2026, highlighting achievements in economic diversification, societal reforms, and environmental sustainability, while also addressing persistent challenges. Despite progress in human capital and women's empowerment, cultural and sporting activities require further support for broader societal engagement. The government's resource mobilization reflects its commitment, yet barriers like bureaucratic inertia and limited public engagement obstruct Vision's ambitions. Concerns about economic sustainability amid global uncertainties also arise. By examining key entities like the Council of Economic and Development Affairs, the chapter underscores the complexities of Saudi Arabia's transformation journey and identifies pathways for sustainable growth and civic engagement.
