Abstract

This chapter discusses how partnerships can aid the health sector. The reader gets an understanding of which issues in healthcare are suitable for partnerships and various empirical investigations into how partnerships in healthcare works are presented. Partnerships are often seen as pertinent in healthcare as they encourage and encompass the collaboration of many actors, which was also seen during the pandemic. Infrastructure public-private partnerships that include private finance have been used extensively in the health sector, including in countries such as the UK, but with mixed results. Various countries are still experimenting with different forms of public-private partnerships in healthcare and are focusing on entrepreneurship, social impact bonds, and improved management contract practices.
