Abstract

This chapter is about finding supportive and attractive footwear for bodies of size. Many bodies of size will need a wider width shoe or boot. Generally wide width footwear is not found in store and will have to be ordered. Finding footwear with elastic insets will help accommodate a wider foot. These insets can be in a variety of areas as well as can be added to most shoes and boots as needed. Supporting bodies of size while performing means considering not only heel height but the width of a heel. Finding and working with a good cobbler to alter store bought shoes and boots will help meld the design idea with the practicality of having a supportive shoe for your performer. Planning ahead is important with footwear since Wide width footwear generally has to be ordered and is usually not found in store and then there may need to be modifications done in order to make the fit just right.
