Abstract

This chapter is about special considerations for jewelry and belts for bodies of size. Many designers do not realize that even jewelry options need to be measured and altered in order to fit properly. Many bracelet styles do not come large enough to fit bodies of size. Several options of alterations are discussed including adding in lengths of chain, punching extra holes in bands, or creating more length with various decorative elements. Proper measurements of where accessories will be worn as well as ensuring the performer is inhaling deeply so that the measurements don’t inhibit deep breaths is needed. Use a ring sizer for sizing fingers on both hands when ring shopping. How and where necklaces hang on bodies with ample chests needs to be discovered during fittings while in the costume. Proportions of any accessories need to be carefully considered to ensure a unified design.
