The Importance of Awareness and Inclusivity
Abstract
This chapter is about the importance of awareness and inclusivity. Working with performers of size creating a safe space for meeting and for measurements is the most important first step. At this first meeting is where you will gain your performer’s trust, or not. Working collaboratively with the person that you are designing for will ensure a successful design and a happy performer. Respecting the performer’s body, keeping measurements confidential, and using body positive language when talking about the design will set the stage for a fruitful working partnership.
