Abstract
This book examines the relationship of food and humor in different contexts—in the language of jokes and songs, on film, and online. The performance of humor occurs in diverse media, online and in older media, TV, and newspapers. Whenever food is involved, and comedic material appears, disgust is never far away. Basic needs having been satisfied, food is later expelled from the body in a less appetizing form. The chapter will examine the wider notion of taste through the link between the good taste of food and the revulsion at excreta, providing an illuminating perspective on the language of aesthetics and morality.
