Abstract

Selecting the right employee is the first step and then new employees need to be onboarded/inducted into the organisation. This ensures they have a good understanding of what the organisation is seeking to achieve, cover any regulatory training requirements (for example, health and safety) introduce the employees to the organisational culture and provide specific support for the role they will be carrying out. In this chapter, we outline the different ways that induction/onboarding can be carried. We also explore the factors around choosing who will deliver the programmes (internally or externally) and the appropriate timings. The chapter also shares reflections on the usefulness of online sessions.
