Abstract
When we walk through a museum, any museum, a striking and important question we can ask is: Why these objects and not others? The book aims to better answer this question particularly for collections of musical instruments by uncovering a deeper contextual understanding of the history of the individual collectors whose collections comprise the historical foundation of many of our museum collections today.
