Abstract

This chapter presents a comprehensive overview of exercise physiology for Graduate Sports Rehabilitators (GSRs), with a focus on the acute responses and chronic adaptations of the musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and respiratory systems to exercise. Emphasising the application of physiological principles within clinical and sporting contexts, this chapter explores how exercise can be effectively utilised for rehabilitation, injury prevention, and performance enhancement. Integrating research and evidence-informed practise, this chapter equips GSRs with the foundational knowledge necessary to design and implement physiologically sound rehabilitation and return-to-play programmes.
