Abstract

This chapter deals with the pronunciation and orthography of Russian. It contains sections on the Russian alphabet, on the pronunciation of Russian consonants, on the pronunciation of Russian vowels (including the reduction and merging of vowels in unstressed syllables), on stress and on various spelling rules (including the use of capital letters).
