Abstract

The tree of life activity is a creative narrative therapy intervention in which clients draw a tree with roots, branches, leaves, fruit, seeds, and a compost heap and write narrative responses representing details of their lives onto the tree. This activity assists clients in conceptualizing their personal strengths, supports, hopes for the future, and other meaningful aspects of their lives through metaphor. In this chapter, an alternative version of the tree of life exercise is presented in which clients use digital photos rather than written labels on their tree of life as a visually stimulating and engaging teletherapy intervention.
