Mixed-Media Aquarium
Abstract
The family aquarium is a creative activity for engaging families in in-person therapy where therapists have crafting materials readily available in the therapy room. This chapter describes how to conduct a mixed-media variation of this activity via teletherapy in two or three sessions. For this intervention, family members each draw and decorate their own water creature. They then collaborate to make an aquarium where their creations can live and place them in the aquarium. This chapter ends with reflections by Eliana Gil, who initially created the family aquarium for in-person intervention.
