Abstract

The teddy bear check-up, also known as the teddy bear clinic, is an intervention that has been used worldwide to engage children in medical roleplay with stuffed animals to increase understanding of upcoming medical procedures, increase familiarity with medical settings, and decrease fear of medical personnel. This may be particularly beneficial for children who have been affected by past medical trauma. This chapter outlines how to conduct this traditionally in-person intervention via teletherapy.
