Abstract

The purpose of this chapter is to assist therapists in using visual cues in teletherapy to enhance the comfort and safety of clients during these appointments. Therapists will understand ways to use a variety of visual cues and signals during teletherapy sessions and how this can help facilitate strong therapeutic relationships and build a safe space for clients, especially for those who may be from minoritized populations, connecting with their therapist from high-risk environments or situations, and/or have difficulty verbally communicating their needs for other reasons.
