Abstract

This chapter builds on the gender-celebratory safe relationship genogram intervention by adding instructions for use with parents. Best practices indicate that as parents of transgender and nonbinary youth address their own concerns and concerns regarding extended family, the child should not be present in sessions to shield them from negative messages about their identity. This chapter focuses on facilitating teletherapy with the parental subsystem.
