Abstract

Poetry has been used in therapeutic settings with children and adolescents to assist in identifying, expressing, and expanding on thoughts, feelings, and experiences. This chapter offers instructions on how to use the “Where I’m From” poem template in teletherapy to support clients in identifying who they are, connect with where they’re from, and share this story with others. This intervention can be particularly powerful for supporting clients in the discussion of cultural and/or spiritual/religious identity.
