Abstract

It is important to deliver all mental health services with sensitivity to the potential of trauma and consideration of client safety. This is true for both in-person and teletherapy services. This chapter provides unique considerations for teletherapy to support trauma-informed care and client safety. It highlights components of trauma-informed care and safety considerations that are unique to teletherapy services with children and adolescents, including the setup of sessions, the client’s environment, the therapist’s environment, the virtual environment, and assessing for and addressing trauma responses.
