Abstract

Asking children to think about which superpowers they would have and what they would do with those powers supports exploration of identity and strengths. It encourages children to reflect on their own qualities, desires, and aspirations, and to think about what abilities they value and how they envision themselves in different roles or situations. Imagining themselves with superpowers overcoming challenges and obstacles may also help them feel more equipped to face real-life difficulties. This chapter provides instructions on how to use an “invisibility cloak” with a green screen to playfully facilitate these discussions in a non-threatening and imaginative way.
