Abstract

An individual can engage with the climate issue and repay their annual and lifetime carbon debt. A community of individuals that shares the same goal would provide a powerful movement. Such a community, national and international, can intervene and make a valuable contribution in mitigating climate change. There is no single community and no single action; rather, people in different age groups can engage in different ways depending on their personal circumstances. In this chapter, the nature and size of this community is explored and its potential impact assessed in terms of the greenhouse gas emissions avoided or sequestered and the scale of financial resources released for activities that support the wider climate agenda.
