Abstract

This chapter surveys the literature on the embodied and enculturated grounding of human language and cognition with a focus on the cognitive linguistic contributions to the study of language, culture, and embodiment. In particular, the survey also adopts the perspective of Cultural Linguistics. As a multidisciplinary area of research that explores the relationship between language, culture, and conceptualization and the function of cultural models at the level of cultural cognition, Cultural Linguistics integrates interests and concerns of Cognitive Linguistics with those of linguistic and cognitive anthropology (see, e.g., Palmer 1996 ; Sharifian 2015 , 2017 ).
