Abstract

This chapter examines the role of energy as a sacred and central discourse within the therapeutic afterlife genre. It explores topics such as Akashic records, karma, chakras, and reincarnation, and traces how these concepts inform different therapeutic modalities such as past life regression, chakral therapy, and hypnosis. Focusing on the soul, spirit, and afterlife as energetic entities or fields, the chapter outlines the various ways in which the therapeutic afterlife genre relies on the discourses of energy to promote spiritualization as a paradigm for empowerment, recovery, healing, and self-improvement. The analysis shows that energetic paradigms form a central dimension of the new sacred, functioning as foundational elements within the spiritual self-help landscape. Central to this framework is the doctrine of love—understood as the highest energy—through which all life is depicted as deeply interconnected. The chapter also examines the contributions of key therapists within this subgenre and discusses the spiritual significance of phenomena such as synchronicity and déjà vu, interpreted as energetic signposts from the Other Side.
