Abstract

This chapter analyses two productions of One Under , a play that, like Leave Taking, is perceived to have increased in relevance since its first production in 2005. It examines the play&s;s compassionate consideration of trauma, mental health, and bereavement and considers the impact of these issues on Black men. Drawing on newspaper reviews, interviews with the cast and creative team, the chapter considers the ways in which the play&s;s restaging by leading disability centred theatre company Graeae brought the play to a new national audience.
