Abstract

This chapter provides key information about Winsome Pinnock&s;s life and career, the cultural and critical contexts that have shaped her plays and her approach to writing. After providing a short biographical summary, the chapter goes on to consider her roles as a playwright and teacher and also as a cultural commentator whose sustained contributions to ongoing conversations about British theatre and the treatment of Black British writers and their work map onto a shifting landscape of support and visibility for marginalised artists. The chapter pays particular attention to the female networks that supported Pinnock&s;s early work and her own commitment to feminism.
