Abstract

This chapter focuses on dramatic form, analysing Pinnock&s;s short plays and work for radio. It is particularly concerned with the ways Pinnock uses the possibilities of radio drama to experiment with time, space and location, and the ways in which her short plays participate in activism in relation to anti-racism and feminism. The chapter broadens knowledge and understanding of Pinnock&s;s work beyond her full length plays for the stage, drawing on unpublished scripts from the BBC Written Archives, British Library and Shakespeare&s;s Globe. The plays discussed are: Can You Keep a Secret? (1999), Water (2000), S omething Borrowed (2004), I.D.P. (2006), The Dinner Party (2007), Tituba (2016), Principles of Cartography (2017), Madame Tempy (2019), Una Calling (2020), Faith, Hope and Glory (2021).
