Abstract

Silviculture is the process of growing and tending trees to achieve specific landowner objectives. This can be achieved using different resources (man, machine, and materials). The resources used have been changing over time from manual to more modernised systems to improve efficiencies, working conditions, and overall stand productivity. This chapter provides a summary of the key concepts derived from each chapter and highlights challenges and opportunities, as the industry gradually transforms to meet the growing needs of society. The ability to identify needs, develop solutions, scientifically test them, and implement them if they meet sustainable norms will be critical. Information provided by resources such as this book is vital for decision makers to be well informed.
