Abstract

This chapter explores the intersection of cinematic craft and somatic embodiment as a transformative method for trauma healing and emotional integration. Drawing from somatic experiencing, method acting, and therapeutic narrative frameworks, the chapter proposes that authentic embodiment functions as a form of experiential therapy when structured through filmic practice. The body, memory, and story become co-agents in recovery, revealing how narrative immersion and artistic authorship can reorganize emotional and physiological experience. Practical examples from acting pedagogy and performance coaching illustrate the mechanisms by which the creative process becomes a healing process. Ultimately, this chapter positions cinematic embodiment not merely as performance but as an embodied ritual for integration, self-expression, and posttraumatic growth.
