Abstract

We examine the online survey results in Chapter 5 . While the survey was conducted remotely and lacked interaction, our individual and group interviews with 14 language communities allowed for more nuanced discussions. Researchers met participants face-to-face or online, using a structured questionnaire to ensure comparability across communities. Most researchers conducted one-to-one interviews with language communities including Algerian, Bengali, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Punjabi, Saudi Arabian Arabic, Sylheti, Turkish, and Yorùbá. Only three researchers chose group interviews for the Japanese, Somali, and Swahili communities. The Korean community was an exception, utilising both interview types. The reasons for this will be discussed in this chapter, which reflects their cultural thinking. The total number of participants in these interviews was 191.
