Abstract

Many people associate learning with childhood. However, in reality, lifelong learning continues throughout our lives. For those of you for whom this term is new, “lifelong learning” refers to a “… process of acquiring and expanding knowledge, skills, and dispositions throughout one's life to foster well-being” ( Laal & Salamati, 2012 , p. 400). There are many different types of lifelong learning activities, some examples include university classes, continuing education, sports clinics, and cooking classes. This book focuses on a specific type of lifelong learning: adult literacy learning.
