Abstract

The obvious problem with cold case homicides is that the critical information needed to solve the case is missing. I remember how I often felt that the information I needed was very close, or perhaps hidden somewhere within the case file, and I was simply missing it. Another scenario we often encounter is that the witnesses and suspects seem to be withholding information. They may be talking, but you have a sense that there is more information in their mind that they are not sharing. If you are an investigator, I’m sure you have encountered similar scenarios whether you’ve been working a cold case or working a current case.
