Afterword
Abstract
I began my career in law enforcement in 2002 in Charles County, Maryland. As someone born and raised in Buffalo, New York, I was a fish out of water in those early days, new to the region, the agency, and my organization’s culture. But one thing was certain: I wanted to be an investigator. From the start, I was driven by a need to understand the deeper “why” behind every crime, every motive, and every unanswered question. I’ve always been obsessed with learning and have a lifelong passion for history, so when I found my way into the cold case work, it felt like a natural fit, a kind of marriage between curiosity and purpose.
