What is stroke?
Abstract
This chapter introduces the main types of stroke and links them to neuroanatomy and altered physiology. Stroke epidemiology will be briefly examined, and the risk factors contributing to stroke will be explored. The concepts of neuroplasticity and cognitive dysfunction will be introduced; however, each subsequent chapter will examine these issues in more detail, specifically linked to the chapter content.
