Abstract

This chapter highlights the possible impacts of stroke on washing and dressing and explains the motor, sensory, perceptual and cognitive changes resulting from stroke can lead to physical and emotional challenges. The chapter provides insights into the lived experiences of stroke survivors, during both the acute stage following stroke and their ongoing rehabilitation. Through activities, reflective questions and real-life examples, it prompts readers to recognise the challenges faced by stroke survivors and encourages a holistic approach that addresses physical, cognitive, emotional and environmental factors while highlighting the importance of a person-centred, collaborative approach in promoting recovery, independence and empowerment.
