Abstract

Corruption is a pervasive issue that particularly afflicts developing nations, remaining resilient despite extensive efforts to eradicate it. However, the advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI), along with other breakthrough technologies, presents unprecedented opportunities to combat this scourge. In pursuit of Sustainable Development Goal 16, which aims to ensure peace, justice, and robust institutions, this chapter explores the application of AI from legal and social sciences perspectives to fight corruption in developing countries. The authors will discuss several influencing factors on this application, including general and specific constraints, the necessity for human oversight, and the importance of international cooperation. These considerations are crucial for stakeholders at various levels engaged in addressing corruption.
