Abstract

This chapter surveys the challenges faced by L2 learners and heritage speakers of Russian with regard to both the semantic and morphological properties of Russian vocabulary. A number of influences on the Russian SLA of lexical knowledge are discussed, including transfer from L2 learners’ native language, cultural influences, and processing strategies. Finally, Chapter 4 also considers a variety of approaches to the teaching of Russian vocabulary, including both contextualized learning and technological applications.
