Abstract

This chapter acknowledges preceding feminist work in cultural geography and makes the case for a renewed feminist imperative in cultural geography. It reflects on the urgency of this work in the light of recent political shifts away from gender equality and diversity agenda, and argues for a more explicit deploying, naming, and claiming of inclusive feminist research questions methodologies, and analytical frames which are attentive to varied intersectional gender inequalities. It explores these themes through three cultural geography vignettes of craftism, aerial skills, and positionality in participatory research with marginalised communities. It concludes with statements to catalyse varied feminist imperatives in cultural geographies, including addressing varied gendered spaces, practices and inequalities, and using non-extractive research methods, with both shaped by knowledges from the Global South and North, as well as indigenous peoples.
