Abstract

In this chapter we bring together the themes of previous chapters to give a summary of analyses of the sensorial performance that is mukbang. Even when the performance is supposedly ‘finished’, there are knock-on effects on mukbangers, their audiences, and on regulatory policy and norms of food and eating. We examine the brief history of mukbang through the lens of intersectionality, absurdism and Theatre of the Absurd. We then consider how mukbang has changed and how it might transform into the future.
