Conclusion
Abstract
We conclude by framing our work as graffiti on an enormous wall—two people adding our insights to a surface that belongs to everyone, recognizing that most of our richest conversations couldn’t fit within any single book’s boundaries. We catalog what got left out: analyses of Wells’ Time Machine and Baldwin’s prison essays, discussions of coyote imagery and Shakespeare’s kings, and insights from formerly incarcerated readers about exile and power. We acknowledge our limitations while calling for others to continue the work. The wall accommodates every collaboration we couldn’t attempt, ready for trauma specialists, theater artists, international scholars, and most importantly, the voices of those who learned about justice in eight-by-ten cells. Our small contribution awaits the next layers, the next writers who will arrive with fresh paint and collaborative visions, transforming what exists into something unprecedented.
