Abstract

The internet has transformed nearly every aspect of daily life: how we communicate, work, shop, date and learn. But our legal system wasn’t designed for this kind of world. Laws originally written for newspapers and telephones are now being stretched to cover everything from TikTok trends to artificial intelligence. This chapter explores how cyber laws get made in the United States, how courts and lawmakers struggle to keep up with fast-moving technology and what it means for your rights in the digital age.
