Abstract

Climate change is having profound impacts on the intensity and frequency of precipitation, heat waves, wildfires, and floods in Australia. Of the various ethnic groups in Australia, the impacts are most adversely affecting Indigenous peoples, particularly ones living in remote areas. Nevertheless, in a multiplicity of ways, Indigenous Australians have responded to climate change, including working in collaboration with climate action groups. This chapter explores possible collaboration between Indigenous climate action groups, such as the Wangan and Jagalingou Family Council and Seed, and ecosocialism, given that both perspectives share a commitment to the notion of the commons.
