Abstract

This chapter analyses how womxn struggle to articulate rage in the aftermath of rape. It situates this struggle in relation to the disavowal and pathologisation of womxn’s rage. The chapter explores, how despite this disavowal and pathologisation, womxn ragefully respond to the injustice of rape, highlighting and disrupting this form of violence. It traces these as acts of refusal, which challenge norms of polite and complacent femininity. The chapter demonstrates how rage in the aftermath of rape enables empathy and care, beyond the shame and woundedness explored in the previous chapters.
