Designing Healthy, Sustainable Interiors
Abstract
Within the realm of interior design, several crucial elements have gained prominence in the pursuit of wellness and sustainability within indoor spaces. These elements include sensory integration, biophilic design, adherence to the WELL Building Standards, and the insights of environmental psychology. By integrating these principles into the design process, designers have the capacity to craft spaces that bolster physical and mental health, enhance productivity, and contribute to overall well-being. This chapter delves into the convergence of these four significant areas that have garnered increasing attention in the field of interior design: sensory integration, biophilic design, environmental psychology, and WELL Building Standards.
