Time after Time
Abstract
Transmedia concept albums like La Dispute’s Panorama evoke a sense of temporal multiplicity by constructing narratives that fluidly move between media. By examining La Dispute’s transmedia concept album Panorama , this chapter demonstrates how layers of time are used to construct narrative in transmedia concept albums to build a sense of temporal multiplicity. This chapter highlights a new approach to both music and literary research that centres on the construction of transmedia storyworlds and narratives within and beyond those storyworlds. This approach permits the exploration of alternative ways of considering narratives in transmedia concept albums, affording novel possibilities and implications for storytelling and communication in multimedia contexts.
