The global community was effectively brought to a standstill because of the spread of the novel coronovirus. The government and medical personnel have been tirelessly working hard to control the outbreak of SARS-CoV-2. The Ministry of Health instigated many awareness programs for educating the public about modes of virus transmission. In addition, it initiated strict measures for controlling the transmission of the virus by minimizing social connections and contacts, closure of educational institutions and controlling all outdoor activities. Children and adolescents of all ages suffered a lot during national lockdown. In light of this, the investigator was interested in carrying out a study on COVID-19 protection through social awareness . The investigator selected prospective teachers for the present study. The objective of the present study is to find out the differences and correlations, if any, among prospective teachers in their social awareness on COVID-19 with respect to gender and residence. The survey method was adopted for this study. Using a stratified sampling technique, the researcher selected 243 prospective teachers studying in colleges of education in Palayamkottai district, Tamil Nadu. The research instrument for the study was a KAP Questionnaire with three key dimensions: knowledge, attitude and practices. The findings revealed that there is no significant difference in the level of social awareness among prospective teachers with respect to gender and place of residence .
