Abstract

This chapter presents the key findings of the international research literature on the career decisions and development of gifted students. Specifically, it outlines four potentially relevant theoretical frameworks and provides an overview of the current research literature in the area, including research on the career decisions and development of one subgroup of gifted students – prodigies. Thereafter, the potential issues relating to the role of artificial intelligence in supporting the career decisions and development of gifted students, along with key issues for the career decisions and development of several equity groups, are discussed. The chapter concludes with a list of recommendations for the future and some thought-provoking questions for discussion.
